Primers – Accuracy Enterprises LLC

Primers

“The cost of Primers is so high!! Why are you charging so much?”

I often get this question from people who call me or chat with me. Often times people will say, “I bought these same primers 3 years ago for $40/brick and now you are charging $150/brick.” And they will be angry saying it!

It all comes back to loaded ammunition prices and loaded ammunition availability. It is still very difficult to get any type of loaded ammunition (outside of 9mm and .223/5.56mm) on a regular basis as the demand is so high right. As a result of this high demand, the prices for loaded ammunition has skyrocketed.

In order to save money and still stay shooting, many have turned to reloading. What happened? Reloading equipment, primers, and powder became short in supply too.

During this same time, prices for the raw materials to make these primer, gunpowder, projectile products have skyrocketed and have been hard to obtain.

With so much demand for loaded ammunition and for reloading components, and higher costs for their raw materials, the primer manufacturers have passed this down the supply chain to all of us. As a result, we are seeing the highest prices for primers in the history of the business!

There is still some good news in all of this…

Reloading with primers supplied by Accuracy Enterprises still will allow you to reload a box of ammunition for a significantly lower price than buying it the store. For example, a box of 45ACP pistol ammunition is selling for $40/box of 50. That is $0.80/cartridge.

To reload this same cartridge, your costs would be: $0.10 for powder; $0.15 for the primer, and $0.20 for the bullet for total of $0.45/cartridge.

You still save roughly 45% by reloading!!!!

If you need help getting started reloading, please let us know. We are there to help you!

Hopefully this helps explain things a little better…..

I haven’t bought a factory made cartridge in 20+ years….

I was looking at my reloading data book the other day and noticed that I have now been reloading since 1992.

I initially started reloading my own 9mm pistol ammunition as a way to save money versus buying it at the store. This was easily achieved within the first 500 rounds I loaded as the savings easily paid for my startup reloading equipment and component supplies (primers, powder, bullets).

As I became more interested in marksmanship and accuracy, reloading my ammunition became a necessity. It was clear that the extra time I put into managing my reloading process and quality control, I could manufacture a cartridge that was not only less expensive than a factory bought cartridge but also more accurate.

As a result, I have not purchased a store bought shotgun shell, pistol cartridge, or rifle cartridge for over 20 years. In the process I have sent a son to the Trap Shotgun Nationals Competition, earned the High Power Rifle Classification of Expert, and earned the title of NA Certified Pistol Instructor with my own reloaded ammunition.

If you have the desire to improve your shooting capabilities and take your performance to the next level (and save some money along the way), reloading is worth the investment in your money and time!
